Frog Christians by Arlene Nolly
We live amongst a generation of Christians that believe that we can accept Christ as Lord but live life unto ourselves. Our priorities are the same as the world: affluence, recognition, personal comfort and presently a strong desire for fame. Our values have been blended into the world’s. Just as a frog in a cold pot unaware of being boiled alive so our beliefs have been ‘slow cooked’ over time. Instead of being the salt of the earth reflecting God’s Word we adjust it to suit the standards of modern society. We have been so busy playing Church and fearful of offending, that we’ve missed connecting with the source, who is the only One who can offer us hope and deliverance in a broken world.
God says, “I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! So, because you are lukewarm-neither hot nor cold-I am about to spit you out of my mouth. You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realise that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. I counsel you to buy gold refined in the fire, so that you can become rich…” Rev 3:15-18
Dear Lord help me to detach myself from the value system of the world and seek after You and Your absolutes, for in it flows life and life abundant.
